To Have and Have Not

Set in German-controlled French Martinique during World War II, Humphrey Bogart plays a world-weary, apolitical charter boat captain. He then meets a newly-arrived lounge singer (played by Lauren Bacall in her electrifying film debut) and sparks fly. Bogie is soon drawn into romance and the call of duty is not far behind. Directed by the incomparable Howard Hawks.
