About the Fashion: Irene Lentz Gibbons, known in most circles simply as Irene, was the lead costume designer at MGM for the bulk of the 1940s. Responsible for dressing countless leading ladies, in this film, she unexpectedly dressed Turner’s temptress almost exclusively in white to distract the censor's from the character's immoral actions. Turner appears angelic in every scene despite her revealing wardrobe including garments with seductive keyhole necklines, two piece sun-suits and turbans.
