About the Speaker: Dr. Mark Giovinazzi is a recent PhD graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. There, he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, where his research focused on searching for and characterizing new planets that exist outside of our solar system, known as exoplanets. Mark has also pioneered a new method for weighing more than 30 million stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. Beginning this June, he will continue researching the formation and evolution of other solar systems as an astronomer at Amherst College in Massachusetts. Other than looking for planets and studying stars, he enjoys making pizzas, playing the guitar, and rooting on the Phillies.
