Before the film, join us for a Science on Screen presentation on 'It's all Relative: Understanding Exoplanets, Time Dilation, and Other Universal Wonders' with Mark Giovinazzi, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and Astrophysics PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.

As Earth slowly dies due to drought, an ex-NASA pilot turned crop farmer is tasked with operating a spacecraft that would take a team of researchers through a wormhole to find a new habitable planet to call home. Staggeringly beautiful and complex, Christopher Nolan delivers an intelligent sci-fi epic with INTERSTELLAR. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain.

Science on Screen® is supported by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, with additional support from Rubin Anders Scientific, and Ken Loveday and Ellen Hoffman, Brookline. Many thanks to our series founder Richard Anders. Co-presented by the Museum of Science.

About the Speaker: Mark Giovinazzi is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and Astrophysics PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania. His research involves searching for and characterizing new planets that exist outside of our solar system, known as exoplanets. Mark has also pioneered a new method for weighing more than 30 million stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. When he is not looking for planets or studying stars, you can find him making pizzas, playing the guitar, or at Citizens Bank Park rooting on the Phillies. Register here ››
